Furusato Nozei (ふるさと納税) — limits and deduction
How furusato-nozei donations feed your deduction and how the ¥2,000 out-of-pocket floor works.
Furusato Nozei lets you redirect part of your resident tax to a municipality of your choice in exchange for a modest gift. The first ¥2,000 is out of pocket; the rest is offset through resident-tax and income-tax adjustments.
Cap (limit)
The cap depends on income and deductions. A rough salaried-filer guide is:
- ¥3M income → about ¥28,000
- ¥5M income → about ¥60,000
- ¥8M income → about ¥120,000
- ¥12M income → about ¥250,000
The wizard estimates your cap from your own inputs.
One-stop exception
If you donate to 5 or fewer municipalities and file no other return, you can use the one-stop form instead. Once you file a normal return for any reason, every donation must be included there.
